What is the best advice you ever received? We all receive guidance in different phases of our lives from childhood to career and family. Some of these tips have helped inspire and motivate us along the way. I think we can all agree that good advice is always greatly appreciated.

At the 8th Annual Women In Leadership (WIL) Luncheon, the audience had the opportunity to hear from four successful businesswomen and the best advice they ever received, that has helped them in their career.

Rita Rogers, FIFA Women’s World Cup Venue Manager

  • It is what it is. It is not worth getting angry about things that are out of your control.
  • This will pass. When going through a difficult situation, just know that it will end soon. It always does.
  • Practice makes permanent. Decide what you want to do then practice it until it becomes second nature.

Kasondra Cohen, Founder and President of Face of Today

  • The only thing that’s constant is change so enjoy the journey.
  • Remember that we all have something different to bring to the table.
  • You never fail if you never try so go for it. You have nothing to loose.

Suzanne Siemens, Co-founder of Luna Pads Int’l

  • Leave your organization before the expiry date. It’s always good to leave on a high note.
  • Be open to advice, feedback and listen. Remember: Listening is not about thinking what to say next.

Tracy Orr, VP of Global Trade Finance for TD Bank

  • Expect change because life throws curve balls.
  • Never reply in the heat of the moment.
