Startup founders often dismiss the importance of having a brand strategy. While branding may seem elusive to founders, laying the foundation of a strong brand will result in market differentiation and accelerated adoption.
The value of a lean brand has increasingly become apparent, resulting in a concept called “Minimum Viable Brand”. The business world has taken notice, with publications like Harvard Business Review highlighting the need for startups to have a Minimum Viable Brand.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Skyrocket, a Vancouver-based branding agency to bring you a new workshop on how to apply design thinking and craft a brand strategy that will help you rise above your competition.
What you’ll learn:
- The importance of design thinking for startups
- What is the Minimum Viable Brand; its origin and application(s)
- Why design counsel is just as important as financial and design
- How to apply design thinking to your own venture
- How to develop your startup’s value proposition

- Any messaging you have on your startup’s vision, mission and values
- A pen or pencil

- Existing pitch deck and/or branded collateral
- Familiarity with the concepts of MVP and agile methodology
About Your Speaker
Educated in Business Administration from the University of the Fraser Valley, Mo Dhaliwal has over a decade of experience in the technology sector, including software development and Internet marketing in Silicon Valley. As a patron of the arts and producer of cultural events, Mo has worked to shatter barriers between people and encourage cross-cultural understanding, most notably through the creation of the Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration Society. An ability to connect cultures and disrupt the status quo is reflected in Mo’s aptitude for connecting clients to their audiences and bringing new ideas to fruition.
As Director of Client Services for Skyrocket Digital, Mo collaborates with creative minds across the country and continues to create moving experiences for clients and community.
