A Vancouver native, Jen Murtagh is the CEO at Minerva BC. Past roles have included Executive Director at CKNW Orphans' Fund, Director of Marketing & Communications with Sport BC, Marketing Manager with the Vancouver Canucks and helping manage multi-million dollar sponsorship deals with the Strategic Alliances group at Intrawest.
Jen begun NetworkinginVan.com in an effort to help in the professional development of individuals across the lower mainland. She is a firm believer in the power of networks and how people can help one another in their road to success (whatever that looks like!)
A finalist in the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards (2014) in the Community Building category and a TELUS Vancouver Board of Trade ‘Women of Promise' (2014), Jen is committed to her community. In 2015, she was announced as one of Business in Vancouver's ‘Forty Under 40'.
Jen is a former protege with the Women's Executive Network Top 100 Mentorship program. She was also one of three finalists for the Vancouver Board of Trade “Spirit of Vancouver” Awards in the Individual Community Award category, presented in recognition of outstanding individual contributions to the spirit of Vancouver during the past year and to an individual who demonstrated the best characteristics of community commitment, creativity and volunteerism.
She believes strongly in the importance of mentorship and has mentored both young men and women through the Vancouver Board of Trade, Leaders of Tomorrow program, Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) mentorship program and The Minerva Foundation for BC Women. She speaks regularly at Capilano Business School, BCIT Marketing Week, Pink Tank, MomCafe and to SFU Public Relations students.
In her local community, Jen co-founded the ‘Steveston Mom's Network', a group she started in an effort to support and build connections amongst busy career moms in Richmond, BC. She also founded and co-chairs ‘Women Leaders in Non-Profit' which brings together Executive Directors and CEO's of local non-profits for the goal of networking, support and open dialogue.
Past volunteer roles have included sitting on the organizing committee's for the Ronald McDonald House BC Charity Gala as the Sponsorship Chair, helping raise over $100k to help build a new home for RMH BC (Sept 2011), Canucks for Kids Fund “Dice & Ice” Benefit, BC Children's Hospital “Jeans Day“, Canuck Place “Gift of Time“, Canadian Cancer Society “Relay for Life” and Y.E.S! Vancouver (benefitting Dress for Success).
