On supporting other women: It’s essential to support each other in order to ensure women feel empowered. We need to embrace the wonderful women in our lives instead of competing against them. We have so much to learn from one another. Making someone feel special with a warm gesture such as a compliment for a job well done quickly fills their heart with gratitude, and can truly make someone’s day. Express thanks to anyone who helps you in any capacity and don't take them for granted – including a store clerk, waitress, service provider, co-worker, family member or friend. An extra smile, eye contact and sincere thank you will warm their hearts, because these are often uncommon gestures! It’s all about showing respect and appreciation for others.

How Angela gives back: I feel that with gratitude and an open heart you can begin to tie together opportunities when you don't know how you initially could have helped. Recently, I was asked to personally sponsor a gala in my area for a society I am passionate about – the annual “SHARE 2012 IMAGINE Gala“, which supports people in need by providing such things as counseling, food and clothing, and helps them get back on their feet. I felt grateful for the invitation, but decided to wait on my decision as I wondered how I could have a greater impact than through personal monetary donations alone. I ended up being able to link my SHARE partnership together with another opportunity that came to me as a member of the CKNW family – Pink Shirt Day in support of anti-bullying.

Recommends: A little encouragement goes a long way. I truly believe in The Secret, Power of Intention and not making room for negativity. My daily goal is to be involved with having a positive impact by helping others – whether this is through encouragement, linking together like-minded people to enhance our communities, or bringing awareness to great causes.
