This year has come and gone in full force. I've been putting in a full effort to really amp up my networking game this year, knowing it is key to my future career success. When December 1st rolled around, I hit a wall. I was absolutely exhausted and realized it was because I was exerting energy beyond my means in the 11 months prior.
Pause for a moment. That was an “aha” for me. I needed to take a step back and slow down a bit, just in time for this year's holiday season. Now this might sound a bit counter-intuitive with the festive gatherings upon us. It often seems that there are always parties, brunches, or lunches to be at especially this time of the year.
My approach was to consciously take a step back, and evaluate what I honestly wanted to be at, not what I felt obliged to attend. It is important during this time of the year, to really evaluate what you've done in the past 11 months, and where you want the next 11 months to go. At the beginning of December, I knew in my gut that I needed to take a break, reevaluate my priorities, and readjust.
This isn't anti-networking. This focusing on myself and acknowledging what I need to be my best. My favourite yoga teacher always says by taking the time for yourself, you are making yourself better for everyone you are around.
With this short note, we wanted to wish you and yours all the best this holiday season. It can be a very busy time for a lot of people. Take this as your reminder to breathe. Remember to find some time to relax and recharge during the festive occasions ahead.
