Occupy everywhere. Eurozone crisis. Washington gridlock. HST “do over.” Success of ENGOs versus Keystone. Rising conservatism. It has been an incredible year with shifts in attention and trust that demonstrate, quite simply, we live in interesting times. And while history has shown that in times of uncertainty the public turns to traditional trusted institutions to lead us out of trouble, what happens when those trusted institutions fail to instill confidence and provide direction? Who do we turn to then?
Edelman, the world’s largest PR firm has been tracking Trust globally for 12 years watching the rise of “a person like me” and the decline of traditional sources of information in the eyes of informed publics. With results released in Davos, Switzerland every year to an elite global business community, Edelman’s own Ben Boyd, Global Chair of Edelman’s Corporate Practice based in New York, will present the brand new 2012 Canadian data which shows how we rank globally, but also, and more importantly, what is going on with trust here at home.
His presentation will be followed by an expert panel discussion and audience participation around what it means for local and national businesses here in Vancouver including seasoned journalist, Bill Good, Tamara Vrooman, CEO, Vancity and Sarah Morgan-Silvester, chancellor UBC and Chair of BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre Foundation.
About Edelman Trust Barometer:
Edelman’s 2012 Trust Barometer shows a shift not seen before in the 12 years of the survey — a drastic move away from trust in government, the inability of business to regain ground and a renewed faith in the media and our peers to guide the way. Interesting content and a compelling discussion you won’t want to miss.

Ben Boyd, Global Chair Corporate Practice, Edelman
