1. Urban Design Charrette – The social, economic and ecological flows of your business location: How to make your business location more sustainable and powerfully magnetic to your market, 9:00am – 1:00pm
This half-day workshop will be an exciting exploration of leading concepts of business location and the power of “place” that are based on both human networks as well as ecological and economic flow networks. This workshop will lead participants through an intense process of developing business place concepts that will be highly magnetic to their market and will stimulate a strategic rethinking of their business’s relationships with nearby businesses with an aim of achieving greater economic and ecological performance.
2. Walkshop: Designing Cities for the New Economy, 2:30pm – 5:00pm
Notes: 1) runs concurrently with Making the Pitch; 2) there are only 60 spots available; 3) This Walkshop will run rain or shine. Please come dressed appropriate for the weather. It will NOT be at Performance Works. External meet up location is Victory Square in Gastown. Route options to get there will be emailed out in advance.
A walkshop is a walking workshop. The purpose of this walkshop is to collaboratively explore an area of the city, to identify and learn from each other about the planning, design and dynamics of new economic spaces and places.
3. Making the Pitch, 2:30pm – 4:30pm
An interactive session that covers not only the technical aspects of “making the pitch”, but also an often over-looked part of investment readiness – connecting and building mutually beneficial relationships with potential investors BEFORE you need to pitch. Get a comprehensive set of tools for developing and communicating your value proposition. Learn how to get people to help you and invest in your business.
4. Co-operatives Step-by-Step, 7:00pm – 9:00pm
This session on co-operatives will provide participants with a hands-on opportunity to experience the first stages of the development of a co-op. Co-ops give members a democratic ownership role in the enterprise, address the needs that conventional enterprises often don’t or can’t address, and keep profits in the community.
